Liverpool’s second bid for Florian Wirtz was rejected by Bayer Leverkusen, but both clubs expect to reach an agreement soon.
Liverpool’s second offer of £109.5 million, including add-ons, was reportedly rejected by Bayer Leverkusen reported by Paul Joyce via TheTimes.
However, there’s growing optimism between both clubs that a deal will be reached soon.
The Daily Mail’s Dominic King reports that a “middle ground will be found quickly” as both clubs work to finalise the payment structure – instalments and realistic performance-related add-ons.
According to The Telegraph‘s Jason Burt, Leverkusen are “happy with the fee” but are still “in the process of negotiating how those payments will be made.”
Wirtz has also expressed a strong desire to join Liverpool, turning down interest from Bayern Munich, which adds pressure on both clubs to finalise the deal soon.
As a Liverpool fan myself, I’m highly confident that the signing of Wirtz will be officially announced soon.

Meanwhile, Wirtz has linked up with the German national team ahead of their UEFA Nations League semi-final clash against Portugal on Thursday, June 5, at 12:30 AM IST.
With a high-profile move looming, attention is firmly fixed on the 22-year-old—on and off the pitch.
Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann, who previously managed Bayern Munich, responded to rumours that he may have influenced Wirtz’s decision to choose Liverpool over his former club.
Speaking to German journalist Maximilian Koch yesterday, Nagelsmann said: “I’ve never told a player: Move here or there.”
“What matters is that he plays and that he plays a similar role in terms of significance to the one he played in Leverkusen.
We know that he’s one of the best players in the world.”
Their strong bond was recently shown when Wirtz reached out to Nagelsmann personally about the transfer.
Nagelsmann revealed: “He texted me, and I tried to give him a few tips.”
He also added: “If it’s Liverpool, it would be a very good step.
It’s a great environment and a super club.”
Amid all the transfer chaos surrounding Wirtz, his focus now shifts to international duty as Germany get ready to face Portugal in the UEFA Nations League semi-final.
If they win, they’ll take on either Spain or France in the finals on June 8.
